CMSWillowbrook Honored with Journal Record Top Projects Award for Delta Tau Delta New Fraternity

CMSWillowbrook was honored with a Top Project Award by the Journal Record for the Delta Tau Delta, New Fraternity, on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, OK.

The Delta Tau Delta Fraternity has long been a historic part of the University of Oklahoma (OU). In December 2019, the house was struck by lightning with 70% of the structure burning to the ground. CMSWillowbrook was hired as the Construction Manager to rebuild the structure better than ever. The new Delta Tau Delta house is 30,000 SF and features 35 residential rooms, commercial kitchen, outdoor kitchen, study rooms, indoor and outdoor game rooms, and courtyard complete with a putting green, football field, basketball and volleyball courts, and several other entertainment areas.

This building was unique in the fact that there are very few projects that require the amenities as this one. The goal of the project was to make the building enticing to the students to get them out of their rooms and interact with the rest of the fraternity members. The courtyard was a way that the team could make that happen. Since the fraternity and sorority houses don’t get upgraded as much, and there is typically more wear and tear, all of the finishes were selected with that in mind. The installation of the finishes had to be at the highest quality to ensure lasting the chance of time.

CMSWillowbrook worked with the design team and client’s representatives to help the dream of the fraternity come true. It was an opportunity CMSWillowbrook looked forward to. Tyler Cotner, CMSWillowbrook Sr. Project Manager stated, “It was an amazing sight to see when the students were able to see their new home. You could see the pride on their faces and the same for all of the alumni who contributed both their time and money to help make this project a reality.”

This was a unique project due to the input from the building committee. “We feel that it highlights one of the many great projects that we have completed over the last year,” said Tyler. CMSWillowbrook worked closely with FSB Architects and the building committee to build a house that is the most state of the art fraternity house in the country while incorporating the lost memories of the old house. The final product of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity House did just that.
